How to read this

This statement explains the Artificial Intelligence (AI) systems we use, and how we use them.

The Digital Transformation Agency's Policy for the responsible use of AI in government (the Policy) sets out the Australian Government’s approach to embracing the opportunities of AI while ensuring that use is safe and responsible. Transparency is critical to building public trust and is an important aim of the Policy and the broader APS Reform agenda. (Template language)

An AI system is a machine-based system that, for explicit or implicit objectives, infers, from the input it receives, how to generate outputs such as predictions, content, recommendations, or decisions that can influence physical or virtual environments. Different AI systems vary in their levels of autonomy and ability to adapt after deployment.

The Defence and Veterans’ Service Commission (DVSC) uses AI in accordance with the DVSC’s AI Transparency Statement.
