How to read this

Food Standards Australia New Zealand (FSANZ) recognises the potential for Artificial Intelligence (AI) to support innovation. This statement is part of our compliance with the Policy for the responsible use of AI in government, as adopted from 1 September 2024. (Template language)

Please refer to the FSANZ Corporate Plan 2024-25 for our key activities that AI may impact over time.

The following table outlines how FSANZ currently complies with the key requirements of the policy.

Corporate and enabling
Classification of use where the public may directly interact with, or be significantly impacted by, AI without a human intermediary or intervention | No impact on the public without human intermediary or intervention.
Measures to monitor the effectiveness of deployed AI systems, such as governance or processes | FSANZ controls its usage to known systems providing limited services.

Should FSANZ expand usage outside of the above classifications, further governance will be implemented.
Compliance with applicable legislation and regulation | FSANZ complies with related legislation and regulation in this regard.
Efforts to identify and protect the public against negative impacts | Staff using supportive AI technologies will be trained to ensure they comply with the principles from the Australian Government generative AI guidance.
