# Artificial Intelligence Transparency Statement The CGC follows the [policy for the responsible use of AI in government](https://www.digital.gov.au/policy/ai/policy) which provides mandatory requirements for departments and agencies relating to [accountable officials](https://www.digital.gov.au/policy/ai/accountableai-officialsin-government-policy/accountability), and [transparency statements](https://www.digital.gov.au/policy/ai/list-of-transparency-statements). This page provides details of the CGC’s implementation of these policy requirements. Accountable Officials are responsible for implementing the [policy for the responsible use of AI in government](https://www.digital.gov.au/policy/ai/policy). A Chief AI Officer (CAIO) will be appointed by July 2026. As part of the [AI Plan for the Australian Public Service 2025](https://www.digital.gov.au/policy/ai/australian-public-service-ai-plan-2025###:~:text=The%20plan%20provides%20the%20platform,Officers%20working%20to%20promote%20adoption.), Intentionsthe BehindCAIO will lead AI transformation at the CGC. ### AI Adoption The CGC's endorsed AI applications are used internally to support workplace productivity, with the aim over time to leverage AI to enhance our analytical capabilities, improve decision‑making processes, and increase operational efficiency. ### Public Interaction withand AIimpact The CGC doesis notcommitted to ensuring that its use of AI inis waysresponsible, thatenvironmentally considerate, and in the public mayinterest. The CGC does not currently use any AI systems that directly interact with the public or bemake significantlydecisions impactedthat byaffect individuals without human interventionoversight. ### Monitoring EffectivenessGovernance WeAppropriate havegovernance establishedarrangements robusthave processes,been includingestablished regularto reviews,support audits,AI andwithin staff training programs, to ensure the responsibleCGC. WeThe CGC have established robust processes, regular reviews and audits, and proactive risk management strategies, including staff training programs, to ensure the responsible and effective use of AI. Our efforts are aligned with broader Australian Government security policies, principles, minimum standards, and common procedures as outlined in the Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF) and Information Security Manual (ISM). The use of publicly available AI services is governed by theour Department of Treasury's IT Acceptable Use Policy, andTreasury’s Information Security Policy, and the [Policy for responsible use of AI in government](https://www.digital.gov.au/policy/ai/policy). ### Compliance with Legislation The CGC complies with all applicable legislation and regulations. We are committed to maintaining transparency and accountability in our AI practices through the AI Transparency Statement. ### Update Frequency This transparency statement is reviewed and updated annually or whenever significant changes occur.
